I’m a commercial women’s fiction writer based in London, UK.
I grew up in Essex before running away to drama school in the early nineties. I worked in the West End as a stage carpenter but decided to get a ‘proper job’, for reasons which are still unclear but may have been influenced by Rachel from Friends. After a decade working my way to the heady heights of middle management, I met my husband and moved to Dubai, where I ditched corporate life for good in favour of having a baby, performing improv comedy and gaining an MA in Professional Writing from Falmouth University.
Now back in London with my family, I divide my time between performing in musicals with my local theatre company and working as a freelance copyeditor, but my real passion is for writing novels about (and for) kick-ass middle aged women. My first novel, Tinker, Tailor, Schoolmum, Spy, won the Comedy Women in Print Unpublished Prize in 2020 and is out in September 2021. It’s commercial women’s fiction with a spy twist, you can find out more here.
